Destroyers Tackle Hunger presented by Giant Eagle |
This season, the Destroyers and partner, Giant Eagle, will team up with the Mid-Ohio FoodBank to TACKLE HUNGER in Central Ohio. Over the last 3 years, with the help of our fans, the Destroyers raised enough resources to provide over 33,000 meals to those in need right here in our community.
Fans are encouraged to bring Giant Eagle branded non-perishable food items to all Destroyers home games. Any fan bringing a Giant Eagle branded product, will receive a discounted ticket to that night's Destroyers' game. Collection will begin when doors open at each of the three entrances to Nationwide Arena. In addition, every fan who donates an item will receive a Giant Eagle coupon and one raffle ticket per item donated, for a chance to win team signed Destroyers merchandise. One item will be awarded each game.
The season-long food collection campaign will once again include an appearance by the Destroyers players at the Channel 10 Food Parade on Saturday, April 26. Both the Destroyers players and Bombshells will be on hand to greet donors and help unload food as the community unites to gather food to benefit Operation Feed.
In conjunction with in-game food collection, Destroyers players, coaches, and staff will volunteers at area soup kitchens each month, and pack food boxes at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank warehouse.

Nagy's Touchdowns to Tackle Hunger |
|
During the 2008 season, Columbus Destroyers' quarterback, Matt Nagy, and his supporters were proud to help Tackle Hunger in Central Ohio by donating $100 per touchdown that he throws to the Children's Hunger Alliance.
According to the Children's Hunger Alliance, in Ohio, on any given day, there are over 500,000 children who are hungry or at risk of hunger - that is about 1 in 6 kids who is unsure how, or if, he or she will get their next meal. Children's Hunger Alliance is the statewide agency committed to solving this problem.
Total Touchdowns to Tackle Hunger Donation:
74 Touchdowns Tossed = $7,400 donated to the Children's Hunger Alliance!
